Archive Traditional Wallpapers by Cole & Son at Lines of Pinner

In 1873 John Perry started a business designing and printing wallpapers. He was an enthusiastic collector of wooden printing blocks and he also reintroduced skills and processes that were disappearing at the time. The business was acquired by Cole & Son in 1941 and the company is the trustee of a valuable and historic archive of wallpaper designs and wooden printing block from the early 18th century onwards. The Archive Traditional collection has been drawn from this wonderful resource. There are 12 designs and one texture incorporating, not only designs that are well known, but also some which have not seen the light of day for many decades.
